To enhance your Museum experience, we have made all the wall labels and panels for the exhibition Metamorphoses: In Rodin’s Studio available to you on this site.

Produced and circulated by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in  collaboration with the Musée Rodin, Paris, this is the biggest exhibition devoted to Rodin ever presented in Canada. With a total of 300 works, it features special loans from the Musée Rodin, such as the monumental plasters The Thinker, The Walking Man, Eve and Meditation, as well as a number of splendid vessels and “flowers” that are being presented in North America for the first time.

While the work of Auguste Rodin (1840-1917), a brilliant sculptor who gained recognition during his lifetime, is famous around the world, sculptural practices in general and those of his own studio in particular are little known. This exhibition shines the spotlight on Rodin’s experimental practices – assembling, fragmenting, enlarging and more – that revolutionized the language of sculpture. It provides a new perspective on the artist’s interactions with his many collaborators and his treatment of a variety of materials.

In short, you’ll know all there is to know about Rodin. However tempting it may be to feel the various textures of the works, please remember to look with your eyes, not with your hands!

Enjoy your visit!
